JONNY BUCKLAND HAT. **COLDPLAY **are a British [rock][0] band formed in 1996 by lead vocalist and pianist [Chris Martin][1] and lead guitarist [Jonny Buckland][2] at [University College London][3] (UCL). After they formed under the name Pectoralz, [Guy Berryman][4] joined the group as bassist and they changed their name to Starfish. [Will Champion][5] joined as drummer and backing vocalist, completing the performing line-up. Creative Director [Phil Harvey][6] is often referred to as the official fifth member by the band. The band renamed themselves "Coldplay" in 1998. They achieved worldwide fame with the release of the single " [Yellow][7] " in 2000.
